Growing Strawberries in the South

At first, I found strawberries difficult to maintain in my zone 8b garden. They would produce in early spring and then die during the summer. Lately, I have learned to plant them in late fall and monitor them for disease and pests during the heat of summer. The Alpine strawberries are beginning to produce from last year’s planting. I recently planted Camerosa strawberry starts and have been pulling the blooms off so they can grow and become more established before bearing fruit.

The garden tour shows off my planted seedlings of broccoli, cauliflower, Camarosa strawberry, carrots, collards, Red Russian Kale, Cinderella Pumpkin, and Dickinson Pumpkin all container grown. Toward the end of the video enjoy the beautiful Gulf Fritillary and Cloudless Sulphur Butterflies on Zinnias plus more sunflowers!
