This is my zone 8b Louisiana garden journal.
This week the weather went from bad to worse. It rained and flooded the back yard then got cold and the big freeze arrived and stayed around for days. Broccoli and cabbage need to be covered when the temperatures go below freezing.
This week was enjoyable since we got to eat some delicious fresh turnips and greens from the garden. The secret to delicious turnips is to peel the skin off of them before cooking. The Kanamachi variety is very tender and sweet so I highly recommend these turnips I purchased from Kitazawa seed company.
